Jono (29) & Kirsty (27) are a fresh, talented, young, dynamic choreographic duo. Their USP is quite simply the way that these two highly creative people work 'together' to benefit their art. They breathe a special kind of energy and passion into their choreography – it's smart, it's commercial as well as being edgy and different.
Jono & Kirsty, however, started their careers very differently. Jono was a professional basketball player until a serious wrist injury forced him to re-think his future. At the age of 22yrs old he started to take 'street dance' classes in East London and soon found an outlet for his energy, passion and love of the UK music industry. He taught himself by attending class after class and soon became a major feature amongst the East London Hip Hop Crews. He also came to realise he had another gift – he could not only seriously dance but he could create innovative and mind blowing moves which were every bit as impressive as his 'slam dunks'. It was at one of these Street Dance Classes that he first met KIRSTY.
KIRSTY was trained in ballet following the curriculum of the Royal Academy of Dance and had started her training from a very early age, excelling in all genres of dance – ballet, tap, modern, jazz and contemporary.
Jono and Kirsty found themselves dancing at the same street classes and perfecting the art of 'street dance' and as their friendship grew they realised that they shared the same creative dreams and aspirations. They both wanted to create astonishing, new choreography and their visions and combined talents allowed them to swiftly move behind the scenes into choreography, creative direction and concept development.
As highly respected dancers their services were much in demand. Both have performed on stage with the pinnacle of US and UK music stars – Beyonce, Madonna, Timbaland, Cheryl Cole, JLS and Alexandra Burke, Sugababes, Cher Lloyd.... to name but a few.
Team 'JONO & KIRSTY' have created works for blue chip corporate clients, staging shows at Wembley, 02 and the Royal Albert Hall. Their current credentials also include choreographing and directing award winning Plan B's performance at the MTV European Music Awards in 2010 and devising their UK Tour concept and ground breaking 2011 Brit Award performance.
Labrinth's 'breakthrough' performances at Radio 1 Live, Jingle Bell Ball and UK European promo tour was also the work of JON0 & KIRSTY. They are delighted to be working with Labrinth on projects in 2011 and 2012.
Last year saw this talented duo choreograph a KYLIE TV performance for BBC's hit show "The Hustle".
JONO is also working in South Africa – creating and directing winning performances of the SA TV show "So You Think You Can Dance".
