Dax O'Callaghan was trained at the legendary Sylvia Young Theatre School and has been 'working and performing' for most of his life. He has already accomplished more than most people who have been in the industry a lifetime – so do not be fooled by his tender years as his experience is nothing short of phenomenal.
Dax was a seasoned professional performer, wowing audiences by the time he was 10 years of age – taking the lead role 'Gavroche' in Les Miserables in London's West End and playing the 'The Artful Dodger' in Oliver at the London Palladium. Other lead roles saw him on TV in EastEnders, Casualty, Hope & Glory, Trial by Jury and The Knock.
His dance ability and passion for movement was always at his core and by 16yrs old he had performed on stage with the Spice Girls, Sugababes and performed a lead role in Wayne Sleep's production of DASH. He was also asked to teach dance classes at the world famous Pineapple Dance Studios and has the accolade of being the youngest ever teacher! Some 9 years on his classes are still rammed to the rafters at Pineapple and he holds hugely popular workshops across the globe.
To add to his burgeoning credits he was also a TV Presenter for the world-wide Children's channel Nickelodeon. By 19 Dax was signed as a solo recording artist to Warner International and achieved huge success in the European pop charts with his first No.1 – this lead to him signing a contract with Universal Music 2 years later to be part of boyband Lexington Bridge – who went on to become one of Germany's most successful groups, notching up 5 Number 1's in 7 countries. Dax's experience in dance and skill at creating young, fresh, innovative choreography ensured that he choreographed all 7 of Lexington Bridge's music videos and both of their European Tours whilst in the band.
In 2008 Dax turned his talents to crative direction and became the Creative Director for Germany's reality show Popstars where he mentored the winning group, choreographing their music video and European Tour.
Last year Dax had the honour of being asked to choreograph Olly Murrs (Thinking of Me music video) and worked as Assistant Choreographer for JLS's Arena Tour "Outta This World". He also lent his incredible choreographic talents to the now famous T-Mobile Heathrow Airport Flash-mob ad and this year's Flash mob for the X-Factor audition stages were all his own work. Dax became the choreographer of choice for well-known X-Factor contestants Jedward – creating their winning performance which took them to the Eurovision Song Contest. His latest credit has earned him an invitiation to be a 'guest' judge at the the annual ASDU European Open Championships – one of Europe's most acclaimed Dance Competitions for new talent.
His choreographic and creative direction ability in this competitive marketplace is all encompassing and his credentials among his peers and those that have had the pleasure of working with him are undisuputable. He is hugely liked and enormously respected by everyone he works with – be they his students, Music Video Directors, TV Producers, Record Labels, Managers or talented world class Artists.
